This morning I went to the shoppingmall Woensel Xl, shopping but also because I knew that the historical convoy the Liberation Task Force would keep their break there. The convoy came from Valkenswaard and was on his way to Son. [The Liberation Task Force works together with Royal Army, which celebrates its 200th anniversary, to honor. Warm relationship between the Dutch and the British during the anniversary of 70 years]
During the parking appeared that a truck had an overheated engine, the soldiers stayed quiet, it was clear that this was not something disturbing.
Then some had to stand at roll call, the commander spoke to the men. “Yeah, he had seen the Mac, but they were not there to go to the mac they had sandwiches and drinks with them and had to stay with their vehicle” Everyone nodded obediently “yes”, later on their where some men with coffee and bags of the mac. The British soldier I was making a joke to about his coffee from the mac, gave me a wink. š
The five veterans received much attention, the Scottish soldiers found it suspicious that I wanted to make a picture from a low point and the only female soldier was all excited to tell everyone that this was a “Once in a lifetime experiences” to see the British vehicles here in the Netherlands, that they had came by boat with all those vehicles and that it had been a major surgery proud she was.
